Schumacher SEM-1562A 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Maintainer

Schumacher SEM-1562A 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Maintainer

Looking for an alternative to the Battery Tender?  Here is a battery charger/ maintainer that is not only an inexpensive alternative but is a great product in it’s own right that has also recently been reduced in price.

What I like about this charger is the low price along with all of the features you expect in a charger/ maintainer.  It can be used for 6 or 12 volt batteries and can be set and forget simple when used on one of your toys that sits for long stretches.  You also don’t need to be concerned if you have any issues because Shumacher is a company with a great reputation for standing behind it’s products.

Something that never ceases to amaze me is that this type of product has a built in microprocessor, basically a computer.  It is designed to analyze the data it receives while attached to the battery and make adjustments on the fly.  If ambient air temperature changes or the battery is getting too hot, the SEM-1562A will adjust the charging rate accordingly.

There is a 2 year warranty included from Schumacher, as I said a company with a great reputation dating back to 1947.  I highly recommend this product and at the price, it is worth buying one for all of your toys.

Customer Reviews

After having the battery on my “summer only” convertible go
flat last winter I decided to invest in a battery maintainer.
The Schumacher SEM-1652A was the best compromise of price (around
$40 with shipping), features (a normal charging rate, and a
lower maintaining rate, with overcharge protection and indicator
lights), and small size (fits easily under the hood by the
master cylinder, battery wiring adaptor with quick connect makes installation and removal a snap.
I’d add a few extra crimp-on terminals of various ring sizes to the kit,
so different power connections with the wiring adaptor could be made
(my car has the battery mounted in the front fender well, I had to get
larger ring terminals to go on the remote jump starting terminals
under the hood.
