It may be time for  Deltran to update their sales copy!  The 800 was actually introduced to the marketplace in June of 2004.  That does not mean it is dated because it is still a top seller on Amazon.  What makes it a top seller are the rest of the features.  The size and power are only part of the story.

What really makes this battery charger stand out is the fact that it is not only waterproof but shock resistant as well.  This is a great battery maintainer to mount on your boat and just leave it there.  The synthetic epoxy resin will keep it insulated from moisture as well as prevent damage from vibration and shock.

The charger is also very reasonably priced.  It is currently just over $30 at the time of this review.  You also get the backing of Deltran, which has been in the business of making battery chargers and maintainers for many years and offers a 3 year limited warranty.

Everything is done automatically for you. We did quite a bit of searching for both positive and negative reviews from actually purchasers.  There was some concern about products that did not last as long as people had hoped then issues with the warranty from Deltran.  The more that we dug into this, the more we found that the complaints were all from many years ago and some were for different Battery Tenders.  It seems that all of the consumer comments that we could find from the last few years were all very positive, in fact there is a 4.6 star consumer rating on Amazon.

So what is the bottom line?  Based on all recent reviews as well as our own experience with the Deltran Battery Tender line, we rate this waterproof battery maintainer a buy.

The Amazon title says this is an 800 Amp charger (which is a bit ludicrous — most houses are only set to handle 60-150 amps). This device is actually an 800 milliamp charger, or 0.8 amps. This places it as comparable to the 0.75 amp Deltran Battery Tender Junior.
