VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor

VIAIR 85P Portable Air CompressorHave you ever bought a $19.95 portable air compressor and found out it is a piece of junk just at the most inopportune time?  I am extremely frugal and have gone down this road.  Unfortunately, I was unable to go down the road after attempting to use my bargain compressor.

Why tell this story?  The VIAIR 85P Portable air compressor is a little more expensive but in my experience it is truly a get what you pay for product.

While the Stanley J5C09 500-Amp Jump Starter with Built-In Air Compressor is a great product, I like the VIAIR 85P better as a stand alone air compressor.  The fill rate using the VIAIR is much faster and the compressor is also more compact.  It also has less to break or go wrong because it is a more simple product.

What makes the VIAIR 85P a superior portable air compressor?  It is very light and compact yet feels very solid.  I like both the built in LED worklight and the pressure gauge.  I have found that when you are trying to get back on the road by doing a nighttime repair, you can’t have too much light.  Having to alternate between the hose and a pressure gauge will make you crazy when time is of the essence.

Get the best price.  Just go here now.  You also get a maximum working pressure of 60 PSI which will allow you to fill the donut tire in your trunk just in case you forgot to check the pressure before you left on your trip.  You can use the 85P to fill any tire or tube that has a Schrader valve which is great for bicycles and flotation devices.

Reviews-

I’ve had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn’t walk around when you’re using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P…
